Why did you choose to work with Autotech Doors?
We took on this development job which involved transforming a large factory into multiple tenancies, and Autotech Doors had exactly the help and expertise we were looking for. We got the team involved in the design stages of the project, through to creating multiple retail spaces at Brewtown – including creating shopfronts for each new tenancy.
What’s the process of working with them like?
Initially we got a lot of guidance from Autotech Doors on the way these doors were going to operate, how we were going to make them watertight, and how we were going to create a uniform, cohesive look throughout each of the tenancies as they are all quite different. Their team worked alongside Rylock Wellington to design a unit that would work for what we wanted, as well as make sure it would be watertight once it was in the existing buildings. Our specific requirements meant options were always going to be limited, but Autotech Doors came up with a design that worked well for us, and the architect was happy with it too.
How does Autotech Doors continue to help your business?
Not only do we use Autotech Doors to do our installs, they also manage, maintain, and carry out the servicing required to get our annual Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) for a number of our properties across Wellington. They are always good to deal with when it comes to getting quotes, which is great as we get a lot of new tenants coming in. Russell and the guys are actually quoting us now for another big tenancy we have moving in too. We really like working with Autotech Doors because they always do as they say they will. They’re also across the board as far as rules and regulations go, which is very important for keeping our buildings safe.

How do you work with Autotech Doors?
The servicing of our store’s doors is essential for us to achieve our yearly Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF). So the Autotech Doors team comes in for our monthly services, and if there’s any maintenance that needs to be done they’ll take care of that too. It’s also great to have Russell as a friendly voice at the end of the phone whenever I have a problem with one of my doors. They give us peace of mind knowing that there’s always someone there who will help us, and who won’t take a week or two to come out. They’ve also worked here on weekends or nights when the store is closed if needed.
What’s it like working with them?
When I took over my position, I didn’t know the first thing about automatic doors. My first point of contact was actually when I was in a pinch, and I called the number on the Autotech Doors sticker on the door! Russell identified that the door needed to be reset and talked me through how to do it over the phone. I can now do all the troubleshooting myself, thanks to Russell and the technicians. And if I ever have a bigger issue, they’re always at the end of the phone to help out or get a technician to site as soon as possible.
How does Autotech Doors support your business?
We have eight automatic doors in our store that get high usage. On a busy day, we’d probably have over a thousand customers coming and going through our doors, so there’s a lot of wear and tear happening. But Autotech Doors is always there to help us, and it’s important for us to have that ongoing relationship as we’re open 24/7 for over 12 hours a day.
A standout example is before Christmas one year, we had an issue with a main exit door. Autotech Doors immediately sent out a technician, quoted us with a good and cost-effective fix, and ordered the part needed. In the meantime they brought in a temporary unit which we had in place for about a month over the Christmas period, so that our customers could continue to exit our store safely. When the new parts arrived, Russell generously had his workers come in overnight to work around our business needs and fix the door. The fix took around 8-10 hours to complete, which is something we couldn’t have done during the day.
What would you say to others about Autotech Doors?
I would definitely recommend working with Autotech Doors. I’ve worked in other businesses that use other door companies, and by far Autotech Doors has been the best for both callouts as well as the maintenance and servicing side of things.
